As reported by The Evening Chronicle, Celtic are expected to make a move for Fabio Borini this summer, with the striker having a £6m relegation release clause in his contract.

It’s a big summer for the Hoops as Brendan Rodgers attempts to build a squad capable of competing in the UEFA Champions League group stages, with the aim of potentially reaching the knockout stages of that competition or the UEFA Europa League after Christmas.

Borini, valued at £5.1m by Transfermarkt hasn’t exactly had the most successful careers in the English Premier League but is a player that Brendan Rodgers knows well from their spells at Chelsea, Swansea and Liverpool.

If Rodgers rates him, ultimately that may be enough for most Celtic fans to accept his signing as a positive one but it’s fair to say reception has been lukewarm to the latest reports linking him with a move to Glasgow.
